All had a great time at this year’s Beach Shorts Film Fest. Tons of local talent had their films on the big screen. If you missed it here are a couple shots below…




Besides the 9'6" Pintail there were tons of other great prizes in this years raffle.

THE ART OF SURFBOARD SHAPING WITH SCOTT ANDERSON @ the Hammer Museum August 24th

Legendary surfboard shaper Scott Anderson will be speaking at the Hammer Museum August 24th. For those of you who don’t know, he has been making custom surfboards at his Venice shop for over twenty years and has helped advance the evolution of surfboard design. Anderson will discuss the physical properties of different models, design experiments and failures, and the process of tailoring a custom board to the individual.

This event is FREE!! Seating is on a first come, first served basis. Hammer members receive priority seating, subject to availability. Reservations not accepted, RSVPs not required.


Easy parking is available under the museum for $3 after 6:00pm.

Good Times for a Good Cause

Music, Art, Surf Film…who could ask for anything else! Maybe some food and drink perhaps?
All ages and FREE!! Music by Seth Pettersen. Also the closing night of the Je Ne Sais Pas artshow! See it while you can! There will also be a showing of the late 60’s surf film classic The Hot Generationfor all to enjoy. Food and drink available with a $10 donation and a valid ID.


Beach Cities Surf Film Fest

Just wanted to notify all you loyal legions of the stoke, that the fourth annual Beach Cities Surf Film Fest is coming up on August 21st @ 7pm. I know it’s only May but it gives you wanna-be Thomas Campbells a chance to show your stoke through a lens. So get off  your asses and make some movies!!!!! Preferably of people riding Davenport battlewagons and Tyler Craftsmans . Go Go Go!.  Also, it is in support of one of the best and well respected surfers in the South Bay, Barry Hatchett. He is the embodyment of stoke… happy to surf in 2 foot slop or charge in 10 foot Cove rollers. If you can’t make a film, then just show up, any one who owns a Tyler or Davenport needs to attend or they’re a phoney!

FREE FILM, ART & MUSIC: Shelter Surf Shop Saturday May 1st @ 7pm!

Shelter Surf Shop in Long Beach will be showing the film Tom’s Creation for all you alaia lovers and alaia-curious types. BYO beach chair and enjoy! Also, there will be a live performance from The Splendido Allstars and art from Frank Cubillos. There’s so much good stuff happening, how could you pass this up? The fun starts at 7pm.
